‘Oorna’ in Buddhist art and culture means a spiral or circular dot placed on the forehead of Buddhist images as an auspicious mark.
Oorna farm is a community space and working permaculture farm, where we have adopted sustainable practices like earth building, regenerative agriculture, seed saving, foraging wild edible greens, etc.. to build a healthy alternative where we strive to live sustainably and responsibly.
Our vision is to make this community space self-sustaining and resilient in all aspects. Integration is an important element for us and we here work with our village women empowering them by training them with important life skills like sewing, recycling, crafts, etc.. which gives them confidence and financial stability.
We also took an initiative in helping the village kids with their education who are unable to afford it in these pandemic times. The intention is to share creative knowledge and foster self-sustainable living practices where learning happens organically.
